My name is Summer Ladela Broadbridge. Follower of Christ. Daughter. Sister. And friend - among other titles. I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida where I now live with my family. I like coffee, asking hard questions, being involved in my church, staying active, writing, laughing (a bunch), and spending time outside.
That’s a brief intro. Now for the nitty gritty.
If I could sit down with you over a cup of coffee as your friend and tell you this, I’d prefer that. Who knows? Maybe we’ll get that opportunity someday.
As your friend, I couldn’t tell you my story without sharing about how I came to know Jesus.
I was raised in the Catholic church and was blessed to have two loving parents who did their best to ensure I had a very happy childhood. I received Christ during middle school at an FCA meeting (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) where I heard and understood the Gospel for the first time. Fast forward to college, I let my faith take a back burner. I busied myself with courses, making new friends, and joining a few extracurriculars. During my second year of college, the Lord revealed to me that every part of my life was not entirely given over to Him.
After receiving His correction, I chose to fully submit to God and surrender every part of my life over in obedience. Did it cost me? Yes. Did I lose friendships? Some. Has my walk with Jesus been perfect since? Nope. I still struggle, sin, doubt, mess up, and ask the Lord many questions. But I do know that I have a perfect Savior who has paid for all of my sin, in full. Choosing to walk with Him in the light has been the best decision of my life. I’ve learned that walking with the Lord makes every tear worth it. My story will always begin and end with Him. What’s your story?
